Joseph Geier, CPA, PFS
As one of seven children, Joe appreciates the strength of family and the benefit of their support. This appreciation has formed the culture of his business and is evident in his relationships with clients. As a result, he has established himself a successful entrepreneur and a trusted advisor. With a degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland, Joe joined the financial team of legendary baseball agent Ron Shapiro, working with some of the biggest names in Major League Baseball. The attainment of his CPA license coupled with seven years of experience with Shapiro, Robinson & Associates provided him with the financial, tax, and accounting experience needed to form his own firm. Joe’s team now consists of 15 employees that maintain his same passion, all while providing a comprehensive level of service for his clients. Joe is extremely excited about the growth of Winpoint thus far and is eager to continue expanding its client roster.
Since establishing his own firm in 1991, Joe has worked closely with an array of All-Star and Hall of Fame clients such as Cal Ripken Jr., Mark Teixeira, Brad Lidge, Reggie Sanders, & Steve Finley as well as current top prospects Colin Moran & Austin Meadows. For nearly 25 years, he has prided himself in developing effective strategies for his clients and their families so they are able to achieve their financial goals during their playing career and their business and philanthropic goals in retirement. His leadership and expertise in assisting Major League Baseball players with investment advisory, income tax planning, and entrepreneurial ventures has contributed to the reputation the firm has developed in the sports industry. Joe is a member of the AICPA and MACPA, on the Board of Trustees at Mount De Sales Academy and actively involved in several local charities and organizations such as The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation. Joe resides in Ellicott City, MD with his wife, Pam, and their three daughters.
“To Brian – Thanks for helping me discover what’s really important! – Dan Wilson #6.” That quote appears on the Seattle Mariners jersey that hangs in Brian’s office and is autographed by the 14 year veteran catcher and philanthropist. It remains the focal point and passion of his career in the professional sports arena. Brian joined agent Ron Shapiro and baseball Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson at Shapiro, Robinson & Associates in 1981 where he spent over two decades learning the nuances of the unique financial opportunities and challenges of professional athletes, media personalities and their families. He joined the Geier Financial team in 2002 and has continued his lifetime calling in developing and implementing successful strategies to help clients achieve their investment and financial goals. Brian has over 30 years of expertise in the sports field as well as Investment Advisory and Income Tax Management and has worked with baseball greats like Kirby Puckett, Eddie Murray, Dennis Martinez and David Robertson, Bill Ripken, Cal Ripken Sr. and Jr. as well as Baseball Hall of Fame broadcaster Jon Miller. Brian graduated from Loyola College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He is a life-long Maryland resident and currently resides in Cockeysville, MD with his wife, Carol. They are the proud parents of three wonderful girls.

Nick Durastanti cut his teeth in New York City’s financial services world at huge firms like Merrill Lynch and Bloomberg, orchestrating the first successful business integration of the Bloomberg Professional system to the floor of the NYSE. With 14 years of sales and business development experience within the financial services industry, his focus on cultivating new and existing client relationships has resulted in millions of dollars of annual revenue growth. Nick believes in true partnership: working intimately with not only the players, but each member of their families, helping them achieve financial success with every new step. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Political Science, Nick lives in Severna Park, MD with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children.

Cate joined the Geier Financial Group team in 2003, having worked in all facets of the Private Client Group; including Accounting, Financial Planning and Family Office Services; before becoming its Director in 2010. She particularly enjoys working in a proactive business environment like Winpoint, where she can see projects through from start to finish and be involved in every step of the process. With an MBA in Management from Loyola University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Towson University focusing on Business Administration & Legal Studies, she is able to help clients focus on their career and family. Cate lives in Baltimore, MD with her husband, John, where they enjoy living in the city, close to the parks and restaurants, and traveling.
Gregory Palacorolla, CFP
Director, Wealth Management
Sports have been at the center of Greg’s life for as long as he can remember. He grew up playing basketball and baseball and his love of the game instilled his core values: preparation, commitment, loyalty, and teamwork. He brings these very values to Winpoint, finding satisfaction in helping his clients implement strategies to achieve both personal and financial goals. Highly analytical and organized, with expertise in portfolio management, financial planning, tax and client management, Greg graduated with a double major in Business Administration and Sports Management from Towson University. He earned his MBA from the University of Baltimore, with a concentration in finance and obtained his Certified Financial Planner ™ (CFP®) designation shortly thereafter. The opportunity to combine a passion for both sports and finance into his career has been extremely rewarding. Native to Maryland, Greg lives in Ellicott City where he enjoys playing golf, traveling, and supporting the Orioles and Ravens.
Daniel Mules, CPA
Director, Tax Services
Dan brings more than 25 years of tax knowledge to the Winpoint team. He has extensive experience in individual, corporate, and partnership taxation on both the federal and state level. Dan works closely with all departments of Winpoint and Geier Asset Management to ensure all client decisions are handled in the most tax-efficient manner. His understanding of multi-state tax returns and duty day calculations have made Dan an invaluable asset to athletes and their complex tax situations. His unique skill set separates him from most other accountants, allowing Winpoint to provide an elite and specialized level of tax service to their clients. Dan is a member of the AICPA and MACPA. He lives in Stevensville, MD with his wife Lynda. They enjoy spending time with their three children and two grandchildren.
As the Executive Assistant to Joseph Geier, and with 17 years at Geier Financial Group, it’s fair to say that Julie Keller has a hand in many aspects of the day to day activities. She started with the company working in the Accounting Department for four years before transitioning over to assist Joe with more facets of the business. Julie is driven by a “help desk” mentality that puts trouble-shooting and problem solving at the forefront. Because of that, she still remains the ‘go-to’ contact for a lot of Winpoint’s clients. With a degree in Social Work from Millersville University, she embraces the philosophy that at Winpoint, client relationships are number one. Julie lives in Westminster, MD with her husband, Tom.
Brendan Winkler, CPA
Brendan Winkler pulls from multiple disciplines to find innovative solutions. A graduate of Salisbury University with a degree in Accounting, Brendan obtained his CPA license in 2014. Like many of his colleagues, Brendan is a sports fan, and an active follower of both professional football and college basketball. Brendan resides in Baltimore, MD.

Three decades of accounting and client service experience for individuals and businesses is just one factor that makes Steve an asset to his clients. The level of commitment he brings to what he does has fostered great working relationships that endure. He is a graduate of Towson University in Accounting and Marketing and an avid sports fan. Steve lives in Owings Mills, MD with his wife, Carolyn. They have two children and two grandchildren whom they adore.

Karla joins the Winpoint team with a strong background in customer service, accounting and financial services having previously worked for two of the nation’s largest banks. Karla was previously awarded for embodying outstanding customer service practices on several occasions. Her genuine interest for helping others is shown by her attention to detail and taking personal responsibility for her clients’ needs. At Winpoint, her top priority is delivering excellent customer service, which means going the extra mile for every client. Karla completed her Associate’s Degree in 2010 and her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies through University of Maryland University College in 2016. Karla lives in Hanover, PA and enjoys reading, photography, and traveling in her free time.

Justine started with Geier Financial Group in 2011 as a part time Accountant. She has her degree in Accounting from Loyola College and CPA (inactive). Justine thrived as an Audit Officer at PNC Bank for 15 years before deciding to go part-time as a Bookkeeper for a private family, allowing her to spend more time with her own family. Justine lives in Millersville, MD with her husband, Scott, and their three children.
